#3 COVID: One year on
This time I'm gonna shares some vocabs in the podcast of BBC world service.
1. outbreak
The outbreak of the riot happened in this street where people were initially just protesting and chanting out loud.
2. take stock
Take stock in how things are going, what changes you'd like to make, and set the plan in motion for the fall.
3. pandemic
Clearly, it was just an accident of history, a fluke, a momentary incursion of an otherwise universal pandemic.
4. take hold
From the reforms that followed, a new life began to take hold, and more than one innovation was meritorious.
5. wimpy
Alone, most of the electronic bits are wimpy and would die of nonuse.
6. sheer
It is difficult to convey the sheer complexity of the situation.
7. kicks in
The region's profligate economies will struggle for longer as austerity kicks in.
8. genome
Many knowledgeable people have a deep dislike of the Human Genome Project.
9. reveal
When we opened on the former things good record, the face will unconsciously reveal the truth's smile.
10. lockdown
The campus was placed on lockdown shortly after the shootings were reported, and Monday's classes were canceled.
11. swept across
Within minutes the brown patch of sky enveloped me, as a violent storm swept across the dunes.
